RE: Adding an XLR adapter to RCA ic make a difference?

Howdy Always Learning,

Welcome to Cable Asylum.

Have you tried a balanced XLR cable between your fully balanced preamplifier and fully balanced power amplifier? Why did you choose to use single ended rca interconnect cables instead?

A fully balanced XLR cable placed between the preamplifier and power amplifier will be required to facilitate a truly balanced interface. It's the nature of the I/O circuitry of each component which requires an actual XLR cable to be implemented for that type of configuration. Otherwise, an XLR adaptor will not provide a balanced connection.

That said, there is no rule written in stone that indicates in all cases a balanced XLR interface will automatically sound better than a single ended rca interconnect interface.

Cheers, Duster
