“You can tell the effectiveness of you shield with a $22 GreenLee GT-16 non contact voltage detector. From Amazon. The Greenlee is the better device compared to others in around the same price range (yes I tried them, the others SUCK sompared to Greenlee)”
Hi Elizabeth, I’ve got a CEN-TECH non-contact voltage detector from Harbor Freight. It is very sensitive and goes berserk at contact or even near any of my power cables (4 Pangia’s, 2 Bob Crump, 1 MS Audio PC from Vintage Audio Lab (eBay), 3 or 4 stock pc) with the exception of one. This one I just finished building a few days ago. It is built using Supra LoRad cable and Valab carbon fiber and rhodium plated copper plugs. No response what so ever from the CEN-TECH. The CEN-TECH looks just like the Greenlee.
I’ve no doubt seen antistatic foam shield but just can’t place it in my mind. Where would I look for it?
Also Duster’s suggestion of the Highwire Audio Power Wraps is excellent. I’ve got them on my AC and refer along with ferret cores and they have really tamed the noise.
Best to ya,
