As most of realize, cable selection is rather system dependent. As in another post not long ago, I'll share my experience and suggestion based on that caveat. Having used various brands including Audioquest, the Discovery Essence, Kimber Hero, etc., I've found that my overall best results have been with the newer Wireworld Eclipse 6 or 7 series. On digital especially, they have worked well for me from my DAC to preamp. They use OCC copper and their proprietary dielectric which provides an open sound without the harshness on highs. I also have a pair of Equinox in my system. They're identical except for the gauge with the Eclipse at 19 AWG and Equinox at a smaller 21 AWG. Essentially, the Equinox sound is nearly identical, but just a bit less in terms of body and bass fullness. In one Absolute Sound review, the Equinox was compared favorably to the Clear Light. I'm not familiar with Cardas cables, but I would expect that the Eclipse would also compare even more favorably. In general, I've found that for digital applications, that OCC copper seems to fare better than OFC, whereas on other components that are analog(phono stage, tuner), the difference is less detectable. As others have suggested, going the used or demo route can save you $$$.
