I repaired an IC for a buddy-had to replace both ends but wire was ok.

Three pics-1st is stock end; 2nd is tab to break out & 3rd is how to hold wire to barrel. Looks distorted 'cause took pic thru large magnifying glass-solder is silver, not gold. Also removed screw to center pin, as original design was for stranded & this cable used solid wire, so soldered.
