IME, audiophile cabling is not a problem, it's a fascinating hobby-challenge. Since there's ever-changing technological innovations and evolutions within the particular topic, this fascinating aspect of audiophilia should continue to be worthy of great interest, without dread.
If one finds a hard time enjoying "cable acquisition challenges", they can simply choose a reputable audiophile cable maker with a reported "house sound" that may pique their interest. Furthermore, one might wish to obtain a set of cables and power cords that instinctively and/or technically credible end users find more than satisfactory for their own wants/needs. If their make/model gear is same/similar to yours, then all the better: Such is the nature of "plug and play" audio systems (and that's okay).
But, if one wants to include cables as an important part of their "audiophile discovery experiences" within the hobby, the best thing is to do is to read as much as possible about the topic (audiophile evaluation listening cues in particular), then go ahead and experiment as much as one can afford towards this aesthetic as well as intellectual hobby, which is indeed an "audio quest", in my decades-long hobby experience.
What this means is: Decide to find a source/solution you can trust, then move on to another aspect of this hobby to slay then "get thee behind me..." (or simply enjoy the cable ride...).
