I found the discussion on “soundstaging” very interesting.
Clearly, the recording engineers at such audiophile labels as Sheffield, Telarc, Chesky, MA, Proprius, Reference Recordings and others exert considerable effort to capture the acoustics of the recording venue. Many of the LPs, CDs, and SACDs of such labels do succeed in preserving much of the natural soundstage. Those engineers pay considerable attention to every component in the recording chain, including the quality of interconnects and their termination.
The reproduction of the “soundstage” on a recording through a stereo system also depends on the fidelity of every single component in the system. A shortcoming in any one of the components of a stereo system can limit the fidelity of the reproduction of the recording, including the soundstage on the recording. The best components – not necessarily the most expensive -- simply allow what is on the recording, including soundstaging, to be reproduced with as little loss as possible. The Bocchino Brenda connectors can be seen in that light.
As I noted in the review, some modestly priced interconnect cables (Mogami and Canare) and connectors (Neutrik XLRs and Rean RCAs) are quite good and would be more than sufficient in even some very good systems, though they may not allow a very high-end system to perform to its full potential.
