Mini-review: Mojo Audio Cross Helix and XPC-3 power cords

I've been doing the fine seasoning of my systems after a year of major changes, and I've been comparing some power cords lately. I generally keep my PC budget to under $200 new or used, so that is the price context here.
I've been focusing on my amp cord lately. I'd been using a Zu Mother (former top line PC, well regarded, $350 retail a while back) to feed my PS Audio Power Plant, then a Zu Bok into my Cullen Modded PS GCC-500 Icepower integrated.
I bought a Mojo Audio Cross Helix used for $130 to try it out. They use 8 ga. "NOS" Western Electic wire, with nice quality copper non-plated plugs.
I replaced the Zu Bok into my amp. I generally liked what I heard. The Mojos have notably more powerful bass, and a smooth soundstage that was quite nice sounding and clean. The Bok had more upper range energy, but the soundstage was not as tidy sounding. So far so good, but there were aspects I didn't like as well - the top end was a bit laid back, and overall the soundstage seemed a bit flat and lacking microdynamics. Not bad, and an impovement over the Bok, but not quite what I wanted.
I then put the 8 ga. Cross Helix as the feed to the Power Plant, and moved the Zu Mother to the amp. This was a notable step up. I lost no bass, but the increased refinement, balance and microdynamics of the mids and highs was very much what I was looking for.
I decided to give the better Mojo cords a try, so I ordered the $299 retail XPC-3 cords, a 9.5 ga. cord using ribbon conductors and the same plugs as the Cross Helix. I broke it in for a while and replaced the Mother cord on my amp.
I found them to sound very similar to the Mother, which is a good thing, as I like the Mother a lot. After listening longer, I've decided that the Mojo XPC-3 does have a bit more solid and defined bass, but beyond that the differences are hard to get a handle on. I'd give the medal to the XPC on points.
I've since moved a Zu Mission to my transport, and the Mother to my DAC, and that has been an improvement over the PS Audio Power Punch and Zu Mission cords I have been using there.
So- I can recommend trying both the Cross Helix and particularly the XPC-3 at their price points, depending on the "seasoning" your stew requires. There are often "deals" on them as well.
