I would get one of the adaptors from VH audio, and use your existing cords.
As to the wife, well I have the same problem. I think there is some school they go to.
I try to always tell her that it all seems expensive but it is much better for me to be listening to music than out at a bar constantly. The odds of me meeting a hot chick are a LOT less with audio as a hobby than almost any other hobby I can think of!
And well you did seem BENT on getting that mac, so I agree with Mrs. Chopper. Personally I think it is a waste and you can get as good if not better sound on the pc side, though your route takes ALOT less work...point and click baby!
