Some cables like OCOS which I currently have in my system are designed for use with long lengths in mind. Mine are 18 ft. If there is a sound degradation due to length I don't hear it. On the other hand I've also used 6' Grover Huffman cables and long balanced interconnects. Didn't hear any sonic degradation in this scenario either.
