Most commonly it's advised to select braided Techflex sleeving to cover speaker cables rather than plastic hollow tubing. Techflex Clean Cut sleeving is a favorite option (see image) for looks, feel, and workability.
Particular speaker cable geometries do well to cancel/suppress noise rather than use of braided metal and/or foil shielding.
