As long as the IEC connector contact connections are proper, the length of the IEC connector tip is not important. The only issue I've found concerning IEC connector to IEC inlet connections is how snug the fit is. If an IEC connector does not fit snug within an IEC inlet (a fit that's sloppy), a simple turn or two of tape wrapped around the tip of an IEC connector before insertion into the slot of an IEC inlet can create a quite firm fit...
