I purchased 2 Lessloss power cords at the special sale price hence the review. Upon arrival the cords emitted a chemical/plastic odor which took about a week to dissipate. The cords use a braided geometry. One cord was wound much tighter than the other which had gaps you could see thru. This didn't affect the sound tho. I have taken almost 4 weeks auditoning these cords allowing plenty of time for breakin and comparison. My taste in music runs the gamut from classical, jazz,to blues and rock.
Let me begin by prefacing my conclusions by stating that the differences I noticed were very subtle overall. It took a LONG time to notice any differences.
Firstly I changed out a Wolff Carbon Source cord to the Reimyo CD player. I noticed a tightening of the bass frequencies with some added clarity. The highs were slightly softened with some loss of sparkle and sheen.
Next up was a replacement of an Electraglide Ultrakhan R cord to the Berning Siegfried SET/OTL amp. This time the changes were even more subtle. The highs were again slightly rolled off at the very top and the bass very close with the Lessloss slightly more pronounced and refined. Midrange and soundstage were almost identical.
I used the Lessloss PC's on both the subwoofers of the Avantgarde Duos. I had used less expensive(~$200) Cardas and XLO cords before this. The Lessloss sounded much better than these with increased transparency which surprisingly extended up into the midrange. I also noted better defined acoustic bass with more air around the instrument.
Overall I would charactarize the Lessloss sound as very open, transparent with excellent bass, clear midrange, pleasant highs. The overall balance seems to be very slighty tilted downward toward the bass.
My take on the Lessloss PC is that it represents excellent value. It held up very well to more expensive cords. I could live with them very easily as the only cords thruout my system. I will keep them on the Duo subwoofers as they made a significant difference there. They would seem to me to be ideal cords for solid state gear and/or amps that are run directly off wall AC. At the price I purchased them at they are a real steal. Kudos to Liudas for offering a great cord at a reasonable price. As a caveat I should mention that I run my amp and CD player off a PS Audio Premier power regenerator. This may mitigate some of the benefits of the Lessloss filter in the cords since the AC is already pristine.
