I followed that recipe closely, but used 28 gauge silver with copper Eichmanns and followed Chris VH's method of using a cotton rope for the core with a 2" pitch on the spiral. I'm very happy with them. I made two pairs with cotton insulated wire and two pairs with teflon insulation, and cannot hear a difference between them.
Something tells me you need a higher gauge on the speaker wires though. I'm using the full braided Cat 5 recipe for mine (between 300B SET amps and relatively high efficiency speakers) and am also very happy with them
