Question on Volex17604 power cable

Hello,
I have a Volex 17604 power cable that I cut the ends off of to use the Belden cable that Volex uses on this PC and put some Oyaide connectors on. However, there is a shield ground wire that goes around the cable that is in addition to the actual ground wire. My question, is do I float the shield wire on one end, both ends, or connect it on both ends with the ground wire?
