If I understand correctly that the second set of cables are not connected to anything except the terminals on the speaker, so they shouldn't affect the impedance seen by your amplifier. There would be no current flowing over them if they are not part of a closed circuit. However, they are probably acting like antennas for RFI. They may also be serving to increase the capacitance as well.
You should be careful not to let the pins on the other end touch and short the amp.
