IME, depending on what gear is connected, what make/model AC connectors the cables are terminated with, and what make/model AC outlet they are plugged into, the most notable difference between the Flavor 2 and 4 is that the Flavor 4 is more forward sounding (more aggressive) and the bottom end is tighter (the Flavor 2's bottom end presents more tonal bloom) -- this opine/observation does not factor in the Flavor 4's very high current demand capacity 9 AWG aggregate/effective gauge nor the higher noise rejection/suppression benefits of the Flavor 4's star quad design. From a basic level POV, I find the Flavor 2’s tightly twisted conductors to provide ample noise rejection/suppression (however, I would not suggest placing the Flavor 2 on noise-prone digital transports nor switching design amplifiers, IMHO) for most applications and its pair of 12 AWG conductors to provide an ample sense of "ease of current flow", since I use the Flavor 2 cable for PLC power cord connections and don't believe my particular audio system is at a loss for instantaneous current demand (YMMV).
I suggest that you email Chris VH about your wants/needs since he will offer fine advice (inform him about what make/model AC connectors the cables will be terminated with), or you might opt to simply take a chance and order one of each, swap them between the two components, and listen to which cable placement configuration sounds best to your ear.
