Can a power cord be overkill.

I've been using the Eupen GNLM power cord for my monoblocks, I happened to put back the cheap standard power cords and I'm sure they sounded a lot better. The Eupen was very strong and lively sounding whereas the stock power cord sounded more tame. Are power cords more a synergy thing.
