I think that oxidation plays a small, if significant role, in the cable upgrade issue. Most common reasons are compulsive buying, perfectionism, and probably most importantly, which relates to our hobby( and all the previous reasons are tied into), audiophilia nervosa, with the idea that another cable out there just might be a little better. I fall into this camp.
