I tried this myself. But with no much success. In my system, the 18 gauge wire ate the upper mids and highs. Don't know why, really. It seemed like a workable idea. I am glad to hear you had a better time of it.

I ended up using some of Chris VH's diy silver recipe wire I had around. It worked great. I ran it balanced without a ground wire at all.

I also agree with Duster below that the Xhadow connectors are really the best, but they ain't cheap.

Different systems, different solutions. Cool.
