...I don't have a scientific explanation. I have found that depending on the IC's and the components, the noticeable effect of changing IC's varies (sometimes there is more noticeable effect between the source and pre, sometimes between the pre and amp).

With regards to the rolled off highs of the Pro Studios, if they are new perhaps that will change with burn-in.
