Does this make sense?

I use DH Labs BL-1 between my sources and passive pre with a 10k TKD volume pot. Last night I replaced the BL-1's with DH Labs Pro Studio and heard a significant improvement. That made sense given they are a more expensive, lower capacitance cable; however, when I replaced the BL-1's I use between my pre and VTL amps with Pro Studios I heard little difference; if anything, the BL-1's seemed to sound better. I'll listen again this evening but does this make any cable properties sense?
I've had a chance to listen further. As interconnects between pre and amps, the BL-1's are rolled-off in the low frequencies; the Pro Studios are rolled off in the highs. Overall the BL-1's sound better in this position although it would be nice to also have the extra bit of low frequency extension. I'd still welcome an explanation, and perhaps a suggestion for a cable that does everything (in my kind of setup).
