I need to get my Kimber runs of 4 & 8TC reterminated from banana to spade but until I move house and know if I can get away with chopping them shorter I have had to go with a temporary measure.
I use QED airloc plugs.
The recess for the cables to be inserted before being crimped up is a perfect fit for a banana plug.... so a bit of de-oxit and pro gold and wedge the plugs up there... they are a heavy plated gold, not sure of the base metal but so far no complaints about their sound.
