I'm about to construct a pair of sub IC's. I haven't made IC's yet but have been soldering a bit lately...IC's are next on the list.
you should be wary of hum. Shielding might be prudent. I'm leaning towards some good, but mid priced Oyaide PA-02 bulk IC cable. its $5 a foot. there are hosts of other cheaper cable avail though, but i'm not too versed on the choices.
Since subs vibrate a lot & i won't use any other type, Eichmann Bullet RCA plugs will be used. They are revolutionary, work great and are $10 each. easy soldering for DIY. big, bulky metal RCA's can do a lot of harm to the signal. wrapping the Bullett plugs in ERS cloth is an excellent tweak too sometimes. i'd think a sub application might be good due to subwoofers tendency to hum.
Less than $100 for a 5' pair. no affiliation with Oyaide or ERS.
