Any special consideration for a subwoofer IC construction?

I'm considering going the DIY route for this cable to go with a HK AVR144 receiver I just got that will feed a JBL 8" sub. Are there any special considerations I sould look at when picking my cable and my connectors, or are good ICs are good ICs are good ICs?
