Alan is right.

While you might be able to get some small improvement using individual coax cables for each individual ribbon cable signal run, the effort and risk make doing so a real question: do you want to risk it not working when you are done?

I too recommend focusing on the analog output stage, and secondarily, the power supply, where easy tweaks such as additional PS caps, etc. can bring a fairly decent improvement in most cases.
