Reworking any set of cables so tightly spaced as ribbon cabling...

...brings up a HUGE chance of you building in a problem.

Either introducing a short hatmay damage a chip, or an open circuit that also may damage a chip.

Or just killing the sound and being *very* hard to find...

Fix up the audio output stages, or use/make a better interconnect. I believe that willgive you far better results with much less danger of a mishap.
