Lately i've finishing a DIY Open Baffle speaker system. The OB subwoofers require a separate plate amp, and i've been playing around with that connection.
There are 2 wires coming out of the plate amp so most guys install $6 Dayton binding posts and attach the speaker wires to this. I also have a set of Eichmann cablepods so I A-B'd them...no contest whatsoever. The Dayton binding posts do so much harm to sound, its not even funny. The 'pods are simply sublime though.
I'v going to forgoe posts altogether though, and simply run the wires from te amp into the speaker wires...twist everything up, zip tie it together and add some heat shrink. If i need to swap cables in the future, it'll take 5 minutes only. To me, having NO posts resulted in the best sound and i learned an important lesson about the effects of crappy hunks of junk in the signal.
