If you are inclined to try new cables now and then, it might get to be a bit of a pain. The only other thing is that it is not that easy to get a good solder joint with "fat", heavy gauge wire, so you might find that you can't get a very good connection. If you heat the wire enough to get a good joint, there will be too much heat at the daintier wires at the driver. I have ruined car speakers that way before.
