CAT5 IC's and speaker wire in a car installation

Howdy,

First, I need to point out that this is for a car audio installation, not home audio.

I'm looking at different IC options, and was originally thinking of using Belden 89259 cables terminated with RCA's (not twisted pairs, just straight coaxial cable). But running four of these from the front of the car to the back where the amp is located would be bulky.

Would Cat5 cable be okay? Either running all 4 channels in the same cable, one pair per channel, or maybe cross connecting the pairs to increase the effective AWG size. The length would probably be about 12 ft.

How about for speaker wire? In my home setup, I made the Chris VH braided Cat5 recipe, and it sounds great. However, I don't need (or necessarily want) speaker cables that thick in the car installation. Would just one Cat5 cable per speaker do, with the colored wires connected together for +, and the whites connected together for -?

Thanks for your help!
