With my setup, ARC Ref Phono into VT100Mk3, or CD2 into same, no preamp, MartinLogan CLS2z's. I have been very happy with Tara wires, now with The One IC's, Decade speaker cable, and Air PC's. Through The Cable Company, local to me, I got to try many different brands and grades of all. But of course it is all system-synergy dependent.

To second the note from a previous poster, tubes make a big difference in ARC gear.
