Yes Bruce, I've got the dedicated line for the audio system.
I don't think it's nearly as simple as applying a bit of gold plating - in fact many people don't care for the 'sound' that gold plating imparts to power connectors (haven't compared myself). Even if you do the later, you're still left with the crappy quality of most Australia spec male plugs (though Furutech do make a quality version).
The Furutech receptacles were designed for audio use, you get:
- vastly better contact pressure/area between the incoming mains wiring and the receptacle (compared to Clipsal).
- vastly better contact pressure between the receptacle and the male plug (compared to clipsal)
- 0.8mm phosphor bronze base metal used for terminals, copper plated
- superior dielectric materials used for receptacle housing
- factory cryo and demag treatmentHaving heard the difference (to Clipsal), there is no going back for me. The increased tonal richness, soundstage transparency and lack of strain during musical peaks is revelatory.
