Hi all, having recently decided against a DIY speaker cable solution (thanks Jon and others, but, yes, I'm lazy), I've decided that the Canare 4S11 might be a reasonable, inexpensive option for wiring my two front speakers (Paradigm Studio 20, 14 foot runs, bi-wirable). These would replace "too short" 12 ga zip cord (bi-wired). That being said, I have a couple of questions.-Bi-wiring
With four internal wires per Canare cable, I would assume I'll need a single cable for each channel. For each cable I'll twist two of the internal wires together (let's just say the two "clear cables"), and connect to the "positive" terminal of amplifier. Then take the two "solid cables", twist together, and put in "negative" terminal of amplifier. On the speaker end I'll just connect each of the four internal wires to respective binding posts on the bi-wirable speakers (jumpers removed of course). This sound right?
-Terminating
For the amp end, I thought I'd re-use the current banana connectors (they have the screw top that close up the hole and secure cable). I'd like to terminate at the speaker end with 3/8" spades (Paradigms have large binding posts) but am worried about getting a quality crimp with the 14 ga Canare wires. Any thoughts on how to terminate well?
-Super bi-wiring?
Does it make any sense to double up my cables (two cables per channel)? I'd use one entire cable (all four wires twisted together) for positive and one for negative on the amp end. On the speaker end I'd simply connect appropriate pair of wires to each terminal (instead of a single wire to each as in above scenario).
Any thoughts on this would sure be welcome. Thanks to all for past patience and consideration.
