Here is the original Bob Crump post and a more recent version. I recently bought a 10 ft Voltex premade power cord for about $10 from Allied Electronics (which uses the recomended Belden wire), cut the ends off, cut it in half and made two 5ft power cords. I ordered the Shurter IEC connectors from Allied as well and bought the Pass & Seymour ends at the local Menards. It takes about 15 minutes to make the connections and you have a great power cord for very little money. This post should be in the Audio asylum hall of fame (or at least the FAQ section)
