TimboThe Leak has better noise performance, but the Marantz really does sound wonderful. It is detailed, but never strident. Sounds like a good low powered SET amp.
I'm still using the Leak in mono because my Fisher MPX decoder is not working yet. When it is working, the Leak/Fisher combo might sound better than the Marantz.
only time I ever did see a working big transmitter triode, either a 211, or an 845, etc, was in the harmy, in a Bn to Corp level artillery transceiver, arhh that old reserve eqp't. Filled the back of the Landrover. It had VT4C on the box => 211 no?And we were up above the Bulli pass, in WINTER, with a good on-shore breeze to boot. one did warm yr hands, from about a foot away!
