Hey Joe,
If it's within you permissable travel area, the one you really want to see is the Shelby, NC hamfest "The Grandaddy of them all". It's about an hour west of Charlotte on Hwy #74. This is BIG. Well not as big as Dayton, OH , but it takes the entire County Fairground for the weekend. It is held Labor day weekend every year. Only problem with hamfests, IMHO, is that gone are the days of seeing tons of neat old boatanchors. The really awesome old gear has all either been sent to the dump or is in hands of collectors who aren't about to let it go. Now it's more of a computer fest and "rice box" (imported stuff) swap meet. Now-a-days it's a game of trying to find something interesting. Over half the attendants can't identify 3/4 of what they see. It's the damned no-code (morse code)licenses they're issueing.
