Glad you caught that. One should not buy outside of ebay, and that's what you would have been doing had you fallen for it. Even if this was legit, you'd have no recourse through Ebay (though I understand they don't help much anyway).Follow Ups:That said, I just sent a guy $75 for a record that was a Buy It Now, but I didn't go through Ebay. I had asked the seller a question about the item and he yanked the listing so nobody could snag from me while we were conversing about the item. Get the feeling this will be ok and didn't want to trouble the guy to relist with the But It Now. If I get screwed, then I've learned my lesson and won't do it again.

and don't forget that the familiar "you need to update your account information" mails are still coming in. just got one today. the newest wrinkle is that somebody supposedly has tried to access your account from several different machines and bla bla bla.
ebay and the seller gets charged additional fees. That is what makes it such a smart scam. Won't come up on anyone's radar screen and seems quite legit.

...with regard to yr $75 purchase, if it's not the rather sneaky scenario posed by the original poster, you should have a good idea of what kind of person you're dealing with based on their feedback.
