I have the Plextor 708UF DVD burner which works very well. Burned CDs very reliably and DVD-burning is an extra gravy. I got this DVD burner with intention that I can burn DVD-A as well just for kicks. Burning software is Nero 6.2. EAC is used for ripping CD contents to WAV files.

I would second Spike's recommendation.I would say that using an external writer is a 'belt-and-braces' solution, though.
Also, if you buy a Plextor you can use PLextools Pro for ripping, which will utilise 'C2' audio CD error-detection properly, and reads discs 'securely' in one pass until/if errors are encountered.
EAC uses at least 2 passes in 'secure' mode, and is consequently slower - half as fast in fact.
Thanks, I'll checkout Plextor at the local stores. Is there any difference in quality between extrernal and internal burner's.
Here's the link to the Plextor website for more info. There's really no differences between internal vs external units. Just a fancy case, and additional power supplies in the external case.Spike
Spike, which version of EAC do you recommend
