It was Parasound's press release, almost word for word.
What they didn't tell you is how wonderful the amps sound after almost two weeks break-in. Effortless power delivery, and a midrange tube amps would kill for, but better.
Follow Ups:
Be patient and give the JC 1 lots of time to break-in! They're ok out of the box, but become magic after a few weeks. After a month's break-in period, I suggest wearing Depens when you listen.
Richard,Welcome. It's very nice of you to join our forum. I hope you enjoy yourself here, and we'll all try to be nice to you - at least in the honeymoon period ;-)
Can I ask you how the distribution of the JC-1 will operate?
On your web site you only list The Good Guys as dealers, but the ones I have spoken to don't offer me much hope that they will ever have these amps on display to look at and (of course) to listen to. They can run a special order for them naturally enough, but most audiophiles will want to hear them. A fair demand.
I was told by a Good Guys salesman today that other dealers stock Parasound, although your web site does not indicate this. In fact, the salesman was prepared to find one for me so I could audition them there and then buy them through the Good Guys. I have no idea if this is reasonable or possible, but I didn't fancy it much. Actually, I didn't like the idea at all.
Consider, if you will, your own backyard - the Bay Area.
- Are there any specialized audio dealers in this region that will be demonstrating the JC-1?
- Have you at Parasound considered an "open house" demo of the JC-1 so Bay Area audiophiles can see and hear these amps?
Hi Marty,
I assume you're listening to the RM-40's. Don't want to steal your thunder, but are the JC-1's the best match yet?BTW, drove past Kewanee yesterday on my way to Bloomington, IL to pick up a Machina Dynamica Nimbus, got a killer deal. Yesss!!!
The RM 40s really benefit from power. Right now I have the JC-1s in the Big Rig, and they are sounding extremely fine. But it's not a slam dunk that they will sound better than the Pass X-250 or the Edge NL10. Actually, I think the RM 40s are one of the finest loudspeakers EVER made regardless of cost. I'll be darned if I've ever heard anything better at any cost. With a big power amp, they make almost everything else sound out of focus and bland. even speakers in the $20,000+ range - couldn't say it if it weren't true.Went by Kewanee? Should have stopped by. Laura is out of town and we could have cranked it!!! (though the amps are a little ugly today - but you should have heard them 2 nights ago with the needle-disc player - OH MY!!!)
Where from in Iowa? I'm assuming you are a BFS reader. E-mail me some time.
