When 'The Three Stooges' first appeared down here on TV I thought they were kinda okay.

But I already knew Laurel and Hardy through their films.

"I say Ollie, anyone with a name like Hitler, can't be all THAT bad!" Even if he never said it it fits the screen charcacter.

And, the Keystone Cops, both much funnier.

Much later on in my twenties I was introduced to The Marx Brothers, and nearly died laughing.

Then we have to add in Chaplin (who was British), and not always FUNNY!!!, and add in Buster Keaton, too.

I never did quite get the Stooges.

Yet, my favourite form of broadcast popular culture was and still is The Goon Show, mono AM radio only so you had to try to imagine the scenes. One of the stars was Peter Sellers. Most of the show were written by Spike Milligan who also performed.

The click-on below comes from an episode called "The Dreaded Punch up the Conker" whose MO was ... ' leaping off a leather omnibus, and punching people up the conk!" ? nose?

The two in this clip are Sellers playing a pre-pubescent / tween called Bluebottle and Milligan playing the zen-idiot Eccles, aka TFE The Famous. They are in a clock shop watching the Leather Omnibus factory across the street.

Pink Floyd / their producer stole / borrowed the sound-effects ideas - for the intro to "Money" on DSOTMoon.

Enjoy!
