Thanks for 1st hand account.
When the winds change, I think that is called a 'Santa Ana' wind condition. They are HOT and DRY and blow straight off the mountains which accounts for compressive heating of the winds.
2 other SoCal Airports also are in noise abatement areas. Lindbergh (San Diego International) takes off over Point Loma ($$$ area) and the Military Base at Miramar NAS takes off over what amounts to
La Jolla. ($$$$) which is why it'll NEVER be converted to a commercial field.
I have an airport plan that NOBODY wants to hear about which may actually work?
