$85, fingerprints, your passport, and 2 weeks will get you the magic number to bypass the horrendous backups expected at major hubs. Well worth it. If your have seen the lines at SeaTac, O'Hare, Kennedy, etc, you will know what I mean. Lots of folks flying this summer due to cheap fares, but TSA has fallen behind the curve for hiring and training.
Pre-checking gets you into and out of way shorter lines with way less hassles. Be patient, keep your cool, allow more time than you thought you needed -- or get that pre-check deal done.
