I finally got around to it and decided to shampoo four rooms yesterday. I went down to Home Depot and rented their rug doctor pro. Out the door was $50 for 4 hours. Another $15 for the off the shelf liquid and off I went- then back again once I determined the damned thing didn't work..smh. Anyway lesson learned, have them not only check to see if it fires up (which it did) have them fill the reservoir and watch it shoot out water! Anyway the lady there (Kerry) was nice about it and very apologetic unlike her male moronic counterpart who basically told me to get in the back of the line. After testing another unit I was off with obviously a fresh new 4 hour window. Long story short, it worked like a whiz, I was able to shampoo a 12X12 bedroom and 4 area rugs each about 8x12 ft in about 2 hours. It took about 5 reloads of water/mix in-between.
When I returned the unit they actually prorated the cost so the total came out to $23!
Today (the carpets now dried) look better than new.
