You don't see these that often. Big birds ...about the size of a football ...and with a voracious appetite for bugs. That's fine when they are helping to grind an old stump ...not so much when drilling a hole in the side of your house.

This one has been in the neighborhood for a few years. They are skittish though and hard to get a decent picture of if your camera requires you to get close, as mine does. This was from about 15' away.
