in the AL before the all-star break were Detroit and surprisingly Oakland. Both have done poorly since. Oakland lost their division lead and are not only 11.5 games out but may not get in as a wild card. We'll see in the next week.

Detroit has also done poorly and lost their large lead over KC and now have regained it but by just half a game. They may up a wild card or eliminated.

Perhaps adding these players fouled up team chemistry. Perhaps it is just one of those things. The A's have had some injuries and their offense has gone to sleep.
