Rich-If my memory serves me correctly, these babies date from the mid-60s, and feature heavy sand-filled cabinets. They were the British equivalent of the AR3a, and had a somewhat "dry", analytical sound that was quintessentially British.
Many, though not all, European speakers of that vintage were a bit inefficient, and optimised to play at moderate volume in apartments and attached houses. You night, however, want to check the crossovers to see if they are in good shape - bad/failing crossover can choke volume.
If I am thinking of the right speaker, the cabinets can be refinished readily. If drivers are intact and crossovers good, go ahead and play them; I think modern drivers are likely to be way too efficient to easily integrate.
Wharefedale is still in business - you might try contacting them about these speakers!
