I've owned a 730 and a bunch of other HK stuff, and repaired several more for co-workers and friends. The only problem I had with any of them was intermittents caused by cold solder joints. The soldering on the earlier ones was really poor quality - too much solder, not enough heat in the iron. Definitely not wave soldered. I'd just go through and re-flow all the joints. In some cases, where there was a big blob of solder, I removed the excess solder with a solder sucker, and then used new rosin core solder. Many of the joints bubbled up when reflowed, indicating the joint was a "rosin joint" capped over with solder.
