Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

RE: Far less (action) -- but I don't think it's lack of interest --

Tis' true! DIY is some of the most fun. Years ago, I was in charge of the engineering labs where I worked, so I had access to the instruments and tools, and reserved a bench for my own use. I also had a place to work in my basement and borrowed instruments from work. I did some scratch building, but to my own designs. I did a successful mono tube amp, and a successful solid state amp. Mostly to prove to myself I could.

I was a lot younger back then. Today I'm 78 and live in a condo; so I really don't have a good place to work, although I do have my own instruments - used mostly for tests and service work. Mainly, I've kind of lost interest in DIY, but there are still some good deals to be had on good used gear.
