Stock form I like the smoothness of the Scott. Rebuilt, I take the Fisher by a long shot. A stock Fisher compared to my rebuild is night & day difference. It requires the right coupling caps & tubes. Most rebuilders do not replace the two ceramic capacitors in the audio section. Ceramic are awful audio performers. Also most do not rebuild the phono section. Without the right capacitors and tubes, the Fisher is far from a peak performer.
I have not found a rebuilder to perform the K40Y-9 capacitor replacements and best performing tubes with one exception. I will not mention names, but a well known & respected rebuilder uses substandard capacitors. a lousy power supply design & pays no attention to tubes. What more can I say.On the other hand, AA contributor Michael Samra does use K40Y-9 and swaps tubes.
