Those used a Foster type tweeter...more of a PA tweeter than
a home speaker type. Diaphragm is phenolic, smallish magnet.

A good tweeter probably won't fit that space. You could try the
piezo horn tweeter...it will fit right in there nicely, but may
not be an improvement...they only cost $3.00 though!!.

A good cloth dome won't be as loud, but will sound better, and you'd
have to trim the faceplate and modify the hole probably.
