Look at the back panel photo. An (IMO) obvious upgrade to the unit is replacing the antiquated jack set and source selector switch. Using a nibbling tool, you cut out an opening where the OEM jacks are located. The space is filled with a piece of FR4 PCB material (metal side inside). Modern gold plated RCA females get spaced out on the laminate. Tin the copper, before mounting the new jacks.
Mouser stock # 105-14572 allows you to handle up to 6 sources. Mouser stock # 530-111-2223-001 takes care of providing a proper grounding post, for the phono I/P.
BTW, Neutrik/REAN NYS352(B)G RCA plugs fit tightly spaced vintage jack sets.
